CEO William J. Caragol provides tips to help protect children from identity theft
DELRAY BEACH, FL - April 27, 2009 - NationalCreditReport.com (the "Company"), a premier provider of identity security products and services, announced today that its Chief Executive Officer, William J. Caragol, appeared in an interview on the ABC news affiliate in West Palm Beach on Sunday, April 26, 2009, during the 11:00 pm broadcast. Mr. Caragol described how the Company's services can help protect people of all ages from identity theft.
Mr. Caragol also offered the following tips to help protect children from identity theft:
-
Keep your child's personal identifying information (Social Security number and birth certificate) in a secure location and do not provide this information unless absolutely necessary.
-
Don't give your child their Social Security number until they are old enough to understand the importance of this information and why it should be protected.
-
Monitor your child's credit records from the three credit bureaus on an ongoing basis. The quicker identity fraud is discovered, the faster and easier it is to resolve.
-
Keep an eye on your mail box. If your child begins receiving pre-approved credit card offers, don't ignore it. It may be a red flag that your child has a credit history.
-
Monitor their Internet usage. Teach your child never to disclose personal identifying information when surfing the net or using social networking sites.
